A human smuggling operation was intercepted last night on the Phillip Goldson highway.
Last night between miles 15 and 16, Ladyville Police received intercepted a Mazda pickup with Orange Walk plates after it was seen swerving on the highway.
They searched it near the Maxboro entrance and found six illegal immigrants and one Belizean man. Four of the immigrants are Nicaraguan and two are Guatemalan. Their ages range from 19 to 29, and four are men while two are women.
They had various amounts of cash n US dollars and the driver has about two thousand Belize dollars in cash.
Police have called in the Anti-trafficking in Persons Task Force. No charges have been laid yet.
