So, what about Constable Alicia Trapp's allegation of assault against Julius Espat? Well, the two did agree that the matter should be investigated and ventilated in court. Here's that part of our interview with both Elrington and Commissioner Williams:
Orson "OJ" Elrington - Attorney for PC Alicia Trapp

"What is most important is that she did establish and did relay to us, is that during that confrontation, based on what she told us, Julius Espat assaulted and battered her. He both verbally and physically assaulted her. As a result of that altercation, she went to the police station and filed an official police report. So on Sunday, June 5th, she filed an official police report with the Belize Police Department. That report was taken by one, I believe PC Alice Gillett at the Roaring Creek Police Station. So obviously, it is not frivolous. It is a very serious allegation. It is one that must be taken seriously, and it is one which I believe the police department has the responsibility to ensure that they follow through with the complaint of one of their own, a woman, nonetheless."
Daniel Ortiz
"I challenged Mr. Julius Espat explicitly. He vehemently denied that, saying that he did not assault the officer and that he did not disrespect her. That is his claim."
Orson "OJ" Elrington
"Well, I would not expect anything less from Julius, but I think it is incumbent on the Belize police department to act on the complaint, and he should have his day in court, to answer to the complaints made against him, on the charges that should follow those complaints. But remember that they are multiple witnesses to this assault. And, there are several persons who have already expressed that they are willing to go and testify in court about the veracity of the statements made by my client."

Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police
"If it is that she had made a report, then the police will investigate. The setting out there was such that if it is that the Hon. Espat had assaulted her, as she is asserting, there are people out there who have seen. I'm sure there would have been independent-minded people out there who have seen. But I can tell, at no point in time in her live [video] did she make any assertion of being physically assaulted by Mr. Espat. So I don't understand why, all of a sudden, that came about. I'm sure that if he had assaulted her before, she would have made it a part of her live [video]. That was never in her live [video]. But the investigators are going to do their job, and at the end of the day, we will find out if, in fact, she was assaulted by the Hon. Espat."
