And, today Peyrefitte sent off another Freedom of Information request - this one to the Governor General. He's requesting the letters that Senators Eamon Courtenay and Chris Coye are required by the constitution to send to the Governor General asking for permission to allow their firms to be contracted by the government.

Now, he sent a similar request to the Prime Minister just a few days ago - and today he made it plain that he is doubling up on the requests because the matter may well end up in court:

Mike Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman

"So I AM JUST EXHAUSTING ALL AVENUES SO THAT if, when we go to court - we can present to the court and say we tried, we tried every possible angle to get this information out and they just refused to give us. You see, this is the next thing too you know Jules. He says that we like to come and sue every minute and sue for little petty reasons. Well, if you give us the information we won't sue."

Jules Vasquez
"You wrote hardly a week ago requesting this disclosure of the special permissions to conduct business with the government. Man, what the two weeks noh? You, you di jump di gun."

Mike Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman
"Well I didn't write the Prime Minister again. I wrote the governor general this time."

Jules Vasquez
"But, you already wrote the Prime Minister requesting the same thing, it's in process…I suspect."

Mike Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman
"It is?"

Jules Vasquez
"Well, the Prime Minister indicated -as he often does - that there's nothing to hide."

Mike Peyrefitte, UDP Chairman
"Well, let's see it! It's been 7 days, what is so difficult with pulling a letter? I am sure, I am sure, Senators Courtenay and Caye know, at least these two know, from the Ministers who sit in Cabinet - these two know that if they do not have that letter from the Governor General giving them permission to have their firm engaged in a contract with the government, they know that if they do not have that, they have to vacate their seat in the senate."

"So how can you not have that information readily available? You should be, you shoulda have that pon cock in case anybody asks you for that, you can say, "here1". You should be excited to provide us with that to say, "See Peyrefitte, shut your mouth, I have the permission." And then I will shut my mouth."
