One of the notorious figures in Roaring Creek - is looking at a long prison sentence after he was today found guilty of the murder of Timroy Neal.
The killing happened on December 12, 2019, in Roaring Creek, right across the street from the village's Police Substation. Timroy Neal was shot 7 times to the head in an attack that was all caught on surveillance camera.
Speaking of the prosecution with satisfaction today, the Commissioner told us that the admission of electronic evidence was critical to the conviction:
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"Our ability now to be able to use more electronic evidence in the courts have assisted tremendously and the era where we relied solely on I see witnesses or good circumstantial evidence have improved tremendously with the advent of technology and that's the reason why we have been harping on trying to get more surveillance cameras erected in different parts of the country particularly in Belize City, but I can tell you this one with Cruz who got convicted today in the Belmopan Supreme Court is of significance importance to us, because you'd know that this fellow who is now convicted is known to be one of the Roaring Creek bad man who has been out there for a number of years and having been creating problems for the police, problems for the community and so I'm sure that the Roaring Creek residents are going to be happy to know that he has been convicted and sent away to prison for a lengthy period of time. So, I am grateful for that conviction where he is concerned."
David Cruz will return to court on Thursday, July 28th 2022, for sentencing.
The trial without jury was heard by Justice Francis Cumberbatch in the Belmopan Supreme Court.
