Last week, we told you about the execution-style shooting of 36-year-old Alrick Smith, a notorious city figure who escaped death multiple times. Reports are that he made a guest appearance on a radio program last Thursday night, where he donated a cash prize.

As soon as he exited the RSV Media Center, he was shot and killed. Police were on the lookout for the vehicle, which they believed was used by the gunmen. This weekend, they found a vehicle completely torched on the John Smith Road. Today, the Police Commissioner confirmed that they believe the burnt vehicle is the getaway SUV:

Chester Williams - Commissioner of Police

"We are looking at two different angles. One angle seems to be internal, and the other angle seems to be a retaliatory shooting from the other side at this time. We have some idea as to who the vehicle belonged to that was used in the shooting. We're yet to confirm that information, and hopefully, today, we will be able to do that. But at this time, we are looking for three persons in particular, and those three persons are from within the PIV area. And we're also looking for two people who are from the Backaland area. So, those two different groups of persons we're looking at will be in respect to the two angles that we are pursuing at this time, but we are optimistic that we will get somewhere with the investigation very shortly. We're happy that transport is open today. Customs is open today. There is certain information we need to get from customs, as well as transport, as it relates to the importation of the vehicle and the registering of the vehicle. So, once we can get that information, it'll take us good we into the investigation."

"Can you confirm that the burnt remains of a vehicle purported to be [the one] that [was] used in this murder were found on John Smith's road sometime over the course of the weekend?"

Chester Williams
"Yes, that vehicle was found yesterday morning on John Smith Road. And we do believe that that is a vehicle of interest that was used in the shooting death of Alrick Smith."
