But, whatever the circumstances surrounding Private Miguel's death, it's clear that she was wrestling with major emotional upheaval.

This morning the Press asked the BDF's acting Chief of staff whether Private Miguel indeed made an on-record allegation of sexual, emotional, or physical abuse. Here's how he answered that:

Lieutenant Colonel Burns, Acting Chief Of Staff
"I don't know the details of that. She was seeing the counselling unit, that's all I was told and she was seeing the counselling unit for almost 3 months. That would mean that it would be one of the serious cases in our organization. Normally you get to see the counsellor maybe 3 weeks or so and if they assess that you're okay, you're back into work."

"She was assigned here as one of our force police, the female force police and again, it was just a case of her accessing the wellness department which is also here on base and so for pressing I've been doing to the Force counsellor to try and give me more information, she cites confidentiality and so I told her that she'll have to eventually give up the information to the investigators."

Cherisse Halsall:
"Sir, if Micha's complaints were of a sexual abuse nature and if after those prove to be true, will BDF recommend that the police department look into the other sexual abuse allegations that were made at the time?"

Lieutenant Colonel Burns, Acting Chief Of Staff
"The police department was the one who did that investigation 3 years ago independent of the BDF. We only allowed them to the offices of wherever they wanted to go to come up with their findings. We were not the ones who did that investigation and the findings of those investigation was made public back then. But, if it is that in fact Micha was assaulted in whatever way she performed, those persons or person that are implicated from within the Force would definitely be discipline and when I say discipline, it would look at something in the lines of discharge and then a criminal case would be brought against them."
