Two nights ago - we told you how the bi-partisan Women Parliamentarian Caucus made a statement condemning Talk Show Host Luis Wade for using objectionable and derogatory language to women which he used on air. They also wrote to the Belize Broadcasting Authority - which Wade sits on - complaining about his violation of the terms and conditions set for broadcasters. The Caucus demanded an apology, and yesterday morning they got one - on air from Pastor Wade in his Rise and Shine Morning show. Wade said it was his second, but this time he left no doubt that he was apologizing - while maintaining that it was all a misunderstanding:
Today, the National Evangelical Association of Belize - of which Pastor Wade is a leading member - jumped to his defence. It says that he has been quote "completely mischaracterized…for various ulterior agendas." End quote. NEAB says those with agendas interpreted his comments as derogatory toward women and that he is "misogynistic." The NEAB release insists that, quote, "there is not a "misogynistic" cell in his body!!".
