Turning to another shooting incident during the weekend… police suspect that 42-year-old Rodney Obrien, a resident of Antelope Street Extension, was the victim of a random gun attack.

Sometime before 3 a.m. on Saturday, December 17th, Obrien was riding his motorcycle on Lakeview Street when he was shot.

Here's what ASP Yearwood had to say about their investigation into that incident:

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, Belize Police Department

"We received a report on the 17th December about 2:50 a.m. of shots being fired on Banak Street. Police visited the K.H.M.H. where they observed Rosney O'Brien, forty-two years technician of an Antelope Street Extension address, with apparent gunshot wounds to the body. Initial investigations revealed that Rosney O'Brien was travelling on his black Honda motorcycle on Lakeview Street when he heard a loud bang and realised that he was shot. He managed to drive himself to the Karl Heusner Memorial where he is receiving medical treatment."

"Any explanation as to why he was targeted?"

ASP Fitzroy Yearwood
"I believe this is just a random shooting, bearing in mind the hour that this took place after 2am in the morning, almost 3am. Its just a shooting at random. Someone was up to no good and as a result this is what took place."
