Tonight, there are shattered hearts and anxious minds in Belize's Capital City.
That's after a flash of violence in a residential neighbourhood that Belmopan residents never thought they'd see.
The response is a mixture of trauma, terror and re-evaluations of personal and family security. But at the heart of it all, are the families that were directly affected, the Ramnaraces, Belisle's, and Pascasio's.
Those families have declined on-camera comment but they haven't shied away from making their feelings known. Tonight Cherisse Halsall takes a look at some of their most profound words, and the ways they've chosen to mourn their Jon and their Mikey. Here's that story.
Last night we took you inside the horrific double murder of the Ramnarace brothers on Belen street in Belmopan's Maya Mopan.
And since their cruel deaths, many in the capital are caught somewhere between terror and outrage.
But what have the last few days possibly been like for the family of these well-loved young men who were violently robbed of the lives they were meant to lead?
This morning one of their surviving brothers Kelvin Ramnarace took to Facebook to remember his lesser known younger brother David Micheal who everyone called Mikey. And In the first part of his post he says quote: "My lee lee bredda. The youngest of us. He was a very gentle boy. He no even taak haad. He started a bizniz fu clean yaad. Not a flashy life. Just trying to get by like everyone else. He was not a criminal, not a murderer, he was not in a gang, I don't know anything criminal about him. He was just a nice and gentle person. He like go da riva and heng, ride motorcycle, home bbqs."
As for the Belisle's, parents of Vivian Ramnarace and grandparents of young Kait-lyn, they expressed heatbreak yesterday in this statement shared with 7News.
It reads quote: "The family is in shock and disbelief at what has happened. We are also in deep pain and sorrow for the murders of Jon and Mikey. We ask for continued prayers for Vivian's full recovery. Kait-Lynn cannot lose both her dad and mom in such a senseless way. Our trust is in God for true justice."
But justice isn't always guaranteed and these families are struggling not just with the tragedy of it all but the reality that under the circumstances it seems that they were betrayed by the very institution that should have kept their family members safe.
In the second part of his post, Kelvin Ramnarace speaks to the wider public, wishing to but failing to offer any hope. He says:
"Watch da video again and think of this real boy who only had a cup to defend himself with."
That police officer yesterday admonished his own department screaming his innocence to the people who'd come out to see him arraigned, many of them family members of the victims who want to see justice done, but who certainly have their doubts.
Vivian Belisle's family has also started a Go Fund Me to support her recovery and her daughter Kait-lyn in this difficult time. Those wanting to support can look up Please Support the Belisle Ramnarce Family on Go Fund me.com
