Two days ago we told you about the police report made by two elderly men - aged 75 and 80, who claimed that in mid-October, 5 armed robbers - two of them policemen - barged into their home in Maya Mopan in mid-October and made off with quarter million in cash. No one was quite sure what to make of the report with such a large quantity of cash - which the older man said was his life savings neatly stacked in 20's, 10's and hundred's.
Well, police have their doubts too. Last night, the Commissioner of police told the media via text, quote, "police are currently investigating to verify if in fact the incident indeed happened. The persons named in the complaint are currently detained and are being interviewed. So far they are denying their involvement in any such crime. Nonetheless the investigators are conducting interviews with the neighborhood to verify certain information." End quote.
We'll let you know if anyone is charged.
