Last night we told you about the police Corporal was publicly accused of stealing from someone on a Frazier bus and stuffing the evidence down his pants.

We also told you that the very same Corporal was still on duty.

And while that was confirmed this morning during the COMPOL's Sunup on 7 appearance, he clarified that he moved quickly to remedy the situation for an officer he feels should be dismissed:

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"That police officer as I got that video, I sent ot to PSB and I gave directives. It is one of the most embarrassing things that I've seen a police officer did. Yesterday in my management meeting I directed the legal office to prepare the letter of interdiction as he must go on interdiction immediately. I know that was done, because after I saw the news last night and I heard channel 7 reported that he was working last night, I called Mr. Jones and I inquired of the interdiction of the police. He sent me the interdiction letter, but apparently the letter had no reach the police yesterday, so he reported for duty. So what I did was that I called Mr. Romero and I told him to go and serve the police with the letter and take him home to take off the uniform, because he is on interdiction."

"For me, what he did was immediate dismissal. In law we call it a summary dismissal, but the law does not give m,e the power to do that. The law states that we must go through a tribunal process and while some might say that it takes too long, I am a creature of law, I am a creature of instructions and I must follow the law. If I do not follow the law then we open ourselves to be sued if we just send him home like that - we open ourselves for an appeal and he comes back, laugh in our face, collect big money and go about his business. So we need to ensure that whatever is done, is done right so that when it is done he can all the way to the CCJ and the decision will be upheld."

The corporal is coming up on retirement, we are informed.
