And keeping it in Orange Walk - late breaking news to 7News at this hour is that the DPP has issued a directive for two police officers to be charged for the murder of 19-year-old Dyandre Chi.

On SATURDAY NIGHT, the 19-year-old was fatally shot by Orange Walk police.

And, as we said, there are unconfirmed reports that police could be getting ready to bring murder charges against the police officers involved.

This morning on Sunup on 7, the Commissioner of Police discussed the scenarios within the pursuit of 3 to 5 men on motorcycles that could have led to a justifiable or unjustifiable homicide - and that will, he expects, now lead to criminal charges.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"That's a very pivotal point for me, because let's say hypothetically the officers were indeed being fired upon during the pursuit, at this juncture you would have known that these two individuals on this motorcycle were not armed, because we have that face to face confrontation with them, their hands were up - 4 of you in a mobile, you have sufficient manpower, sufficient fire power to dissuade them from doing anything and despite that the officer still decide to shoot. That for me cannot be justified and based on that alone, for me it is sufficient for them to be charged."

"In terms of what charges to be levied is not a matter for the commissioner to decide. Brandon will know an attorney I think section 53 of the criminal code states that when a person claims self-defence or whatever, that it's a matter for the DPP to determine. The police must send the file to the DPP for determination as to whether the person will be charged."

"I can tell you that the DPP is in constant communication with the investigators to guide them in terms of what she wants to get done and she should be going to Orange Walk this morning along with the Ombudsman to have a look at the entire investigation, go on the scene and we are hoping that by this afternoon, she's going to give us some answers in terms of what charge we should levy."
