Last week the major price of crime news was the home invasion and murder in the Kontiki area of San Ignacio. And tonight, Cayo is again making news for a daring crime. This one was the broad daylight robbery of a Grocery Store right on the highway - across from a busy gas station. Cherisse Halsall checked the surveillance video.
The New PK store, it's right off the George Price Highway coming out of San Ignacio Town. But that proximity to the busy highway, didn't stop thieves from coming through this alley and sneaking up into the store.
As this video shows the men wore a mask over half his face - while the other wore no mask and had his gun concealed in a pouch.
A third hooded and masked man runs into the frame, while the other seems to act as a lookout, a hapless one though as he walks directly into two delivery men - he then quickly tries to pull up his face mask.
Inside though, the other two are not so hapless, they get busy quickly, going behind the counter and making a ruckus as they searchING for a cash bag and other valuables.
Terrifying but it's over in about a minute - and from reviewing this video, police should have their suspects shortly.
Reports say that police responded quickly and detained two of the suspects in a car where a number of key pieces of evidence were also recovered. The Police press liaison declined to share information on this today.
