And there was also a fatal road traffic incident in Unitedville on Sunday. The victim, Michael Rowland, was in the pan of a truck with a 6-year-old girl when the driver lost control, causing him to lose his life. ACP Romero gave us more details.

Fire at an Abandoned Home

And, turning back now to fires, there were two more house-destroying blazes in Belize City, the first happened at a building that the fire chief this afternoon called abandoned.

Here's his explanation for why the occupant who likely caused it, won't look back.

Kenneth Mortis, Station Supervisor
"It was an abandoned house, a two-story structure that building was totally gutted by fire. We can conclude that the fire was the act of negligent use of an open flame by an unknown individual who apparently took uo that building as a residence we were trying to gather information from him but as the norm is whenever this type of character creates these fires they automatically vanish with the wind. So, exactly who the individual is, we have no information at this time. We do know that this was a negligent use of an open flame."

Residents Helped Put Out Fire on Iguana

Then there was the fire on Iguana Street, yet another in Patrick Faber's constituency and one in which the fire department says the residents took an active role in extinguishing.

Here's what Mortis had to say about that:

Notably, the fire on Iguana Street is one in which residents voiced their satisfaction with the performance of the fire department.
