New Van To Transport Prisoners

Prisoners going from the Belize City Magistrate's Court will now ride in style - after a series of escapes. Previously, the prisoners were being transported from the courthouse to the prison in a Wingle pickup. But, after 3 escapes in the last 4 to 5 months between court and jail, the police have upgraded to a properly outfitted passenger van.

And while wayward prisoners won't have a chance to escape, they also won't be subjected to the elements crowded into the bed of an old pickup; the new van is air conditioned with seatbelts.
