This new CEO now joins a team effort to keep a close watch on the Trafficking in Persons Report put out by the US state Department. Belize's status as a Tier 2 country is always in jeopardy and, especially so with Haitian human smuggling operations pushing through the country.
It's a dilemma for Belize - which has had to put a visa requirement on these CARICOM nationals - which is against the spirit and the rules of the CARICOM single market and economy.
