But during the ComPol's tenure, at least one politician was allowed to keep his firearm even though he has a police record. The mayor of Benque Viejo, Jorge Rosales, has a gun license despite having an offense on his record. Today we asked the ComPol if he knew this, and he pointed out that it's not just one politician in that same situation.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"But why do we have to go to the mayor of Benque, when you have Shyne right here? Come on man, stop you fool now please."

Reporter
"Sir, but what do you do in those cases when they have a police record? Do you rescind their licensed?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
(Sigh) "I don't know when the people are going to give it up. If a person has a criminal record, I think in the case of the mayor of Benque, that's an extremely old matter compared to Shyne's one. I think from he was a little boy. The man is a big man now, over 20 years ago. He has certainly proven himself to be an outstanding person; he is the mayor of a town."

"If a person has an old criminal record and have shown that since then they have become a better person. They have paid their dues to society. They are established business people. I don't see why they should be denied. It's not like there are persons out there who are running around still giving the problems or committing crime with the firearm."

"If you were to look at the number of firearms that are licensed firearms that are used to commit crime, it is less than 1%. So what is the issue?"
