Tonight, gas station owners near Hopkins are scratching their heads after two sleeping security guards allowed burglars to break into their hardware store. at the Puma Gas Station at the junction of Hopkins Road and the Southern Highway.
Yesterday morning after 2:00, five men broke into the Watson hardware store. The two security guards, aged 53 and 28 told police they were both sleeping - one in his vehicle, the other inside the building. They were awakened by masked gunmen who tied them up. The burglars then gained access to Watson Hardware by shattering two glass panes, got inside and stole various items and cash all totaling just under $10,000.
Police have detained four men from Silk Grass village and both security guards.
