Tonight, David Gonzalez is in person staring down a life sentence for killing his wife Marisela Gonzalez in October of 2020.
The 35 year sentence was handed down by Justice Ricardo O'Neil Sandcroft virtually to Gonzealez who joined from his prison cell in Hattieville.
Justice Sandcroft told him that he will not be eligible for parole until after serving 35 years with deduction for the two plus years he's already served on remand.
Gonzalez was found guilty of killing his wife on San Pedro in November, 2023.
On the night of the murder, David and Marisela went out, but on their way home, Gonzalez claimed she asked to go back out. The two got into an argument and sometime after that he shot her to the head, and then dragged her body to the town dump site where he discarded her.
Days later a man walking in the area discovered her body.
In his defense, Gonzalez, who is the son of a doctor on the island, denied any involvement and told the court he loved his wife.
