The murder follows an eruption of violence in the city last night into the early morning where 3 people were shot in separate incidents.
The first case happened right behind the Raccoon Street police station at 7:50 pm. 18 year old Shemar Smith was walking when a gunman came from behind and shot him in the leg and abdomen. Smith dashed towards the Raccoon Street Police Station compound for safety where he collapsed. Police rushed him to the Hospital where he is stable.
90 minutes later, and less than a mile away, 19 year old Joseph Leslie was shot multiple times at the corner of Antelope Street Extension and Laura Dunn Street. He was shot by a gunman on a bicycle. He is also stable tonight.
And then after 3:00 am, there was a shooting at the corner of Baymen Avenue and Kelly Street. Shane Nolberto and four passengers were driving when an SUV pulled on the left of his car and fired several shots, which caught Nolberto in the chest and caused him to crash into the fence. He is also stable in the hospital.
The Commissioner of police today said police are aware and strategizing:
