A government worker claims that he is being falsely accused of being involved in a shooting that occurred on Friday morning. Today he stopped by our studio to explain how his picture ended up in a police chat, and after proving his innocence he now wants it removed.
Jomarie Lanza spoke with him today:
ACP Hilberto Romero, OC Eastern Division

"On Friday the 12th day of January sometime a while around 3 AM police responded to a report of a shooting incident on Baymen Avenue upon the arrival they found, Shane Nolberto with a gunshot injury. He was taken to the KHMH for treatment. Investigations reveal that Shane Nolberto was driving in a vehicle when another vehicle pulled up beside him, and a male person from that vehicle fired shots towards his direction causing injury him. Shane Nolberto is at the KHMH in a stable condition. We are seeking one white pick up truck in regards to this shooting."
And in search of that pikcup, police detained this man, a government worker who claims that he is innocent and is being falsely accused.
He is Roy Cox, who happened to be working as a taxi driver at the time of this shooting, and today he paid us a visit and broke down some of those details involving his detention this past weekend.
Roy Cox, Accused of Shooting

"Friday morning I woke up. I got a phone call and they told me that I was in the police blog and I was wanted in connection to a shooting. I had no knowledge of it so I was confused and wanted to know what this was about they sent me the photos of me and some lines in the blog implicating me as the driver shooting and some other person, my cousin as the shooter. That night I know I did my work and after I finished working I went straight home at no time did I ever had anyone with me other than my jobs I did."
"I was detained and my vehicle was checked by CIB and photographed and all that they took me back to the station as I was about to finish serving my 48 hours CIB came, questioned me and released me. To my knowledge I have no knowledge of this crime, none at all my route that night from the park. My last job was at minutes to three. I left from the park to go to Vasquez Avenue and from Vasquez Avenue I came back to the park."
Romero told us today that no one has been detained or charged:
Jo
"There was one particular individual who said that he was picked up by a police and his picture was being circulated, and they are accusing him of being the man responsible for the shooting."
ACP Hilberto Romero, OC Eastern Division
"I am not aware of that if anybody was detained probably for interviews but so far no one has been charged."
Cox is pleading to have his name and his photo removed from the police chat as a possible suspect
Roy Cox, Accused of Shooting
"I just don't like how they are trying to implicate me in this because it doesn't look good for me. it just doesn't look good and I would want my name to be cleared from this because I gave the police my route already and from then till now I haven't gotten a response other than that they released me and left me alone but my picture is out there, saying that I did the crime with somebody else which is a false allegation, because I have no knowledge no knowledge of crime whatsoever."
