Four children are without a father tonight, after a traffic accident early on Sunday morning took the life of 38-year-old Moises Perez.

He was on a mission for his church when he took a trip with a pastor to Bella Vista, Toledo. On his way back, he collided into another pickup truck at a dangerous junction in Belmopan.

It's a death that has devastated his family. Courtney Menzies spoke with them today and has this story.

This corner near La Cabana Restaurant in Belmopan was where 38-year-old Moises Perez was killed after another vehicle slammed into him.

Perez was traveling from Bella Vista in a Nissan pickup truck when, as he passed the junction, a Ford 150 pick up truck drove onto the road and was T-boned by Perez.

The driver of the Ford survived, as well as Perez's passenger, but the father of four died instantly.

Today his family said that they're hoping for justice.

David Perez, Father of Deceased

"Around 12:00 at midnight, my wife came up to knock the door and she told him that her brother had an accident and so they went to look for him and they found out that it was him. But as far as they know, the person who was involved in the accident, I think he was in the hospital too, but nothing happened to him. So what they are trying to get, it's like justice because as far as we know, the person that crashed him was drunk, was driving drunk, so we don't know what going to happen."

Voice of: Brother In Law
"The whole family, it's kind of sad because these things are not easy for any of us. He was a cool person and it's kind of hard for everybody because sometimes you don't expect things like this."

"He was a cool person, my brother in law, he didn't, he was a person that didn't get involved in drinking, smoking, nothing like that. He was a good person and like I said, we're trying to get justice because he left four kids and his wife she is really, she has a lot of feelings because he left a one and a half year old boy, it's the youngest boy."

And they are one step closer to getting justice since the driver of the pickup has been charged.

ACP Hilberto Romero, OC Eastern Division
"An investigation was carried out into this report, and Omar Cawich has since been arrested and charge for the crimes of manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, driving without due care and attention. He was taken to court today."

And while it is some consolation, it does little to ease the grief of this family that lost their only son and brother.
