And this apparent gang-related murder occurred only a week after the Southside state of emergency was enacted. But while only certain gangs were targeted, we'll have to wait and see if it will be extended to encompass other gangs in other areas.
But while there have been no arrests so far, as you saw, surveillance footage captured the arrival and escape of the shooter and his accomplice.
Today the police said that they've been able to identify a number of possible suspects.
ACP Hilberto Romero, OCED
"We are seeking several suspects in regards to this murder."
Courtney Menzies:
"I know that Mr Monsanto, he was a gang figure in the past and then he moved to the US and got deported, was it his past activities that caught up with him?"
ACP Hilberto Romero, OCED
"We are following up on several leads and several motives but we have not narrowed down exactly what was the cause for this murder. Yes we have dealt with him in the past and the information we have is this person was brought there by another male person on a motorcycle, after the shooting they both fled from the area."
Courtney Menzies:
"And the surveillance footage, has that proven to help narrow down suspects?"
ACP Hilberto Romero, OCED
"We are looking at footage along with other information we gathered from interviews and we're following up on those."
