In the past, the PIV have been excluded from SOE's, but when we asked the ComPol if it will now be extended to include them, he said it already does.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"PIV is a part of the SOE. There is a declaration for the PIV area as well and yes we are making moves to go after certain people from PIV because it's not all of them who are involved, there's a particular group in the PIV that we believe are behind some of these crimes and we are going after them."
Reporter:
"Monsanto follows, it seems to be like a pattern where these older gentlemen, Jose Matus, Troy Hyde, and Orel Leslie, all above the age of 35, all with gang histories in the past, all presumably killed by PIV, have the police taken note of this pattern and is it something you're following up on?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Yes we have been taking note and it's something that we're looking at."
Reporter:
"There's the criticism that given Mr Monsanto's murder, under the State of Emergency, that the State of Emergency is ineffective, how do you respond to that?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"How did you get there? I really and truly can't understand how one would even reach there. We have seen since the State of Emergency has been declared the violence in Belize City has subsided, the violence in Roaring Creek, Camelote area has subside, how are we going to say that it's not effective. I cannot agree with that statement."
Reporter:
"What progress has been made in the Monsanto murder investigation?"
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"We are following some leads, we have an idea of who the persons are that are responsible and we are hoping that we would be able to get the evidence. Again, there are several things that we are looking at where evidence is concerned and we just have to look at it more."
