A man is out on bail after he pleaded not guilty to obstruction. He was charged because he allegedly ate the evidence: a 4 inch marijuana plant in front of a police officer.

46-year-old Coury Malcom appeared unrepresented on the single charge. There was no objection to bail and he was granted it in the sum of $600 plus one surety of the same amount.

According to reports, on Saturday May 11, police officers visited Malcom's home and asked if he had anything to declare. After he said no, officers informed him that they would be searching his home. Nothing illegal was found inside the house, but in the yard, an officer found a Nestle Milk container with a cannabis plant inside it.

The officer showed the plant to Malcolm, who quickly uprooted it from the soil and stuffed it in his mouth. After he ate the plant, he was charged with obstruction.

He is expected to appear back in court on July 1st.
