An Inspector of Police charged with wounding a detainee inside his cell is thinking of pleading guilty.

Inspector Christopher Martinez today asked the magistrate for a sentencing indication if he pleads guilty.

On Monday. June 19, 2023, Inspector Martinez was charged with wounding Aaron Flowers, a businessman whom he beat whilst he was detained inside a holding cell. It is alleged that Inspector Martinez took the padlock from the cell area and inflicted injuries to Flowers' head. Flowers' alleged crime related to matters having to do with Martinez's home and family. Martinez was charged with wounding.

Today the case was called up before the Chief Magistrate where Inspector Martinez appeared with his attorney, Andrew Bennett while the crown was represented by the DPP herself Cheryl Lynn-Vidal.

It was adjourned for May 23 2024 when the Chief Magistrate will inform Inspector Martinez of what penalty she may impose upon him for the offense.

Martinez remains active on duty as a police officer pending the outcome of his criminal case.
