A San Pedro woman who entered a transaction to buy property on Northern Ambergris Caye says she got swindled by a justice of the peace.

Now, police are looking for Valeriano Pedro Vasquez, known as Jimbo. Here's the police press officer:

ASP Stacy Smith, Police Press Officer
"Dolores Teul, a business owner of the San Pedrito area of San Pedro town reported to police that on 30th December, 2023, Valeriano Vasquez, also known as Jimbo offered to sell her two parcels of land located in north San Pedro. Between 30th December, 2023, and third January 2024, Teul reported that she paid over a total of 16.000 dollars which was the price quoted for the parcels of lands and she was issued a receipt. Tell also stated that on 9th May, she made checks at the Lands Department in Belmopan where she learned that both parcels of land which were the subject of the transaction were registered to different individuals. Tell further stated that her efforts to recover the sums paid over to Mr Vasquez has proved fruitless. As a consequence of this report, police are presently seeking Valeriano Pedro Vasquez, a Belizean justice of the peace of the Eiley subdivision of San Pedro Town for the crime of obtaining property by deception."

We'll let you know when he's been arrested.
