


It's been 8 days since 19 year old Kevin Depaz was killed on Caye Caulker. He was allegedly stabbed by an off duty police officer after he had gotten into a fight with another man. There have been conflicting accounts of what exactly happened and questions of who started the altercation and who brought the weapon are still unanswered. So far, no one has been charged, but just before news time, we spoke with Depaz's friend, who was also injured.
18 year old Julian Canul was stabbed in the neck and the arm during the fight. He came by our studio to tell us what he witnessed. Here's his side of the story.

"We were at Munchies. we punched a guy from Munchies. After that we got chased by 2 off-duty officers. We didn't know they were off-duty officers at that moment. The one in the pink shirt grab the side of the gulf cart and he punched Kegan Alamina, she was on the passenger side of the gulf cart, then he drag him off the cart. Then me and my friend Kevin Depaz, we jumped off the cart and we got into a fight."
"The off-duty officer ran behind Kevin Depaz, the one in black shirt and stab Kevin Depaz in the chest, in his stomach. I was fighting the one in pink who got stab by his own off-duty officer who was with him."

"After the officer stab Kevin Depaz, I ran behind him and try to defend myself. He sliced him on my neck and hand."
"After that the officers went. I went to pick up Kevin who was already unconscious and I put him on the passenger side of the gulf cart. Two other citizens came to help us and drove us to the clinic."

"So, you are saying you guys didn't brought the knife, they brought the knife?"
