Residents in peri-urban communities outside of San Ignacio Town often complain that police response time is slow or the cops prioritize law enforcement in the twin towns.

Not so anymore as today the residents of Kontiki, one of the growing communities outside of San Ignacio opened the doors to its very own Police Sub Formation. It is a product of the collaboration of community groups and the neighborhood watch. Freelance journalist Jose Sanchez reports:
