A fatal motorcycle collision over the long weekend left 2 young men dead. It happened on Friday evening near the entrance of Yo Creek village in the Orange Walk District.
21 year old Alexander Alfredo Reyes a resident of San Antonio village was enroute to Orange Walk Town on his motorcycle when he violently collided into 20 year Angel Fernando Mejia - also on a motorcycle with 18 year old Joshua Gomez as his passenger.
All 3 young men were flung to the pavement and severely injured but only Gomez survived. He sustained abrasions and a broken right leg. ACP Hilberto Romero says that they are still investigating the cause of this accident.

"On Friday the 1st of August 2025 there was a fatal RTA at Yo Creek village in the Orange Walk District Police went to the area where they saw two motorcycles with damages. The drivers were identified as Alexander Reyes and Angel Mejia. They received serious injuries and were taken for medical treatment where they succumbed to their injuries. Investigation is that they were travelling on the Yo Creek road when they collided causing their fatal injuries."
"Again, we have one survivor who was along with one of the persons and as soon as he recovers we will get a statement and we will determine what factors may have caused this accident."

It's worth noting that the stretch of road where this accident happened has seen a number of fatalities over the years.
