But the incident did happen in Minister Kevin Bernard's constituency, and when we spoke with him about it today, he claimed that he didn't even know that these bomb souvenirs were common within the Orange Walk District, and how much of a danger they can actually be.

Kevin Bernard, Area Representative Orange Walk East
"Because you see nobody would have known that this could have been a major disaster one life dead is just too many and it could have been worse and I really want to offer the condolences to Valencia family. They are my constituents in the Palmar area. It is a very sad and tragic situation and I hear Mr Dave's plea yesterday no one would want that to happen and I would want to encourage every citizen especially in the area where they are claiming that it used to be the entire site and area used to be used by the British Army Forces at the time for testing. And if you have any of these objects please contact the police, contact the BDF so that they can safely remove those items and put them in safe keeping. As I said it is the first I have ever seen or heard of and it is a sad situation and we hope that none of this can ever repeat itself."

Those who have explosives and want the BDF to recover them can call the WATCH KEEPER hotline at 610-6037.
