A 36 year old father has been remanded to prison for endangering his 2 year old son. Michael Cowo appeared at the High Court unrepresented today.
According to an investigation, the incident happened in July of 2023, Cowo was at home with his common law wife consuming alcohol when he left home to continue to drink at a nearby store, His wife followed him and they got into an altercation. He then chased her from the house and told her that she was not allowed to take their 2 year old with her. Cowo then left the house abandoning the 2 year old inside. The child was found the next morning at 4:00 am in the middle of the street by a neighbor who took him in and called police.
Cowo was read a single charged of cruelty to a child by Justice Nigel Pilgrim. He pleaded guilty, and his plea was accepted. However Justice Pilgrim ordered that a Social Inquiry Report and Victim Impact Statement be conducted before Cowo can be sentenced. His sentencing date is set for November 13 - and he remained remanded until then.
