And, in other conservation news...

A jaguar's tooth, for some it may seem like a cool pendant - but it's illegal - and tonight it's costing one Placencia man five thousand dollars. On October 15th, Jordan Woods was found guilty in the Stann Creek District Court for unlawful possession of forest produce, specifically two jaguar teeth. Woods was fined $5,000 which he has one year today or face six months' imprisonment. A release notes that Section 19 of the Forest Act clearly states that no person shall possess or have in their custody any forest produce without lawful authority. This includes wildlife parts such as skins, claws, or teeth. Jaguars are a protected species in Belize, and any trade or possession of their body parts is strictly prohibited." End quote.

We are told that Woods also possessed archaeological antiquities without a permit and was also prosecuted for that.
