A brazen midday robbery unfolded in Belize City on Sunday. Around 1:00 p.m., police responded to a report of a robbery in progress at Baba's Store on the corner of Kut Avenue and Amara Avenue.
53-year-old shop owner Weiqun Lan and 56-year-old Guolian Wu, both of #5 Kut Avenue, were inside their store when Lan opened the burglar-bar door to allow a deliveryman to bring in boxes of cheese.
At that moment, four masked men rushed into the shop. They forced the delivery man behind the counter while one of the assailants pulled down the front metal shutter.
The victims were then tied up with zip ties, had their mouths taped, and were ordered to lie face-down on the floor. The robbers ransacked the business, stealing assorted items and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The four men fled the store and made good their escape. Police investigations continue.
