

The Duchess of Edinburgh Sophie arrived in Belize yesterday as part of her visit to South and Central America. According to a press release, she is here to quote, "celebrate Belize's diverse and dynamic society, including attending the national holiday of Garifuna Settlement Day. The Duchess will learn about Belizean efforts to protect natural environments, in particular marine systems, and visit the British Army Training Support Unit Belize, to see the overseas jungle training." End quote.
She will also be visiting projects aimed at promoting eye health and the empowerment of indigenous women.
Today, she kicked off the program with a visit to BCVI before meeting with the PM and his wife this evening at the Laing Building.
She will be in the country until the 19th.
