And another man was killed in a road traffic accident this weekend. According to police, 65 year old Damion Stamp was walking across the Philip Goldson Highway on Friday night at 11:00 when he was knocked down. ASP Smith gave us the details.

"Precinct Four police have formally arrested and charged fifty-nine-year-old Mark Usher, a Belizean businessman, for the offences of drove motor vehicle with blood alcohol concentration above the prescribed limit, failing to render aid, drove motor vehicle without due care attention, and failing to report an accident."

"He has also been charged for the crimes of manslaughter by negligence and causing death by careless conduct. These charges follow a police investigation into a fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of Dalton Stamp, a 65-year-old Belizean technician."

"This traffic accident occurred on Friday, 28th November, 2025 at approximately 11 o'clock p.m. near mile four and a half on the Phillip Goldstone Highway, Belize City. Initial investigation suggests that Mr. Stamp was on the highway and seeking to cross it when a Ford F-150 pickup truck that was traveling from the direction of Belize City to Ladyville collided into Mr. Stamp. The body of Mr. Stamp now awaits a post-mortem examination."

Usher was arraigned in court today. No plea was taken from him and he was offered bail of $6,000 plus two sureties of $3,000, which he was able to make. His next court date is set for January 29th, 2026.

Usher reportedly told the court that he did not know he hit anyone - he heard a bang but it was raining. He also did not stop to render aid.
