As you heard earlier in the news, mental health in the public space continues to be a burning issue.
We reported yesterday on the mentally ill man who was caught on camera striking two women. Well, today, another mentally ill man was remanded to prison pending a psychiatric evaluation after he was accused of attacking Denroy Castillo with a metal fork on Christmas Eve.
30 year old Richard Cherrington appeared in court yesterday but the charge of aggravated assault could not be read to him. He had been before the court on another criminal charge prior to this, and was again ordered for a psychiatric evaluation, but had later been released on bail.
He has been remanded until March 26th, 2026 and the magistrate will move forward depending on the outcome of the evaluation.
