A family of 11 has lost everything in a Guinea Grass Village fire. Tonight the Sarceno family is without a home as an electrical issue caused a fire that engulfed their prefabricated wooden home. No on was harmed but nothing was saved. Speaking with son in law Jose Mejia he explained that he was the only one at home at the time taking care of his baby when suddenly he started to smell smoke:

Jose Mejia, Son in Law
"Actually, miss, I was sleeping, miss. Me, my little baby, and my two little how do you say that word, my lee bra Lee dem. They have two. I got two of them sleeping because my wife was, she went to Orange Walk this morning, early morning, and then she left me with the baby. And then I was sleeping and I received a message from her. So I wake up and respond to the message. When I actually was smelling some fire, smelling some fire because the fire started on my sister-in-law room. where no one was there."

Jaleeza Roberts:
"Okay, and can you explain how the fire started?"

Jose Mejia, Son in Law

"Well, the fire started from an outlet. I do not know if it was a fire from an outlet or from time. There was a cable and there was a fan connected to that outlet. And when I went to the room, I checked how was the fire. The fire was already high. And then I hurried and woke up my little bra Lee dem. My brother made them wake up, called the uncle, and helped me. I just managed to take my baby quickly out of the house."

Jaleeza Roberts:
"Okay, and were you able to save anything?"

Jose Mejia, Son in Law
"I was saving some clothes, but then the fire still ketch my clothes dem. I really did not manage to take anything from the house."

"Everything got burned. Everything."
