We also asked Williams about his time as Commissioner when drug planes were coming almost nightly out of Venezuela. Air activity out of the bay of Venezuela was intense between 2021 and 2023. It's consequential now as the US has abducted, extracted and imprisoned Venezuelan president Nicholas Maduro and charged him for narcotrafficking. Williams confirmed that there were regular narco flights out of Venezuela:
Jules Vasquez
"Had you seen a, a pattern that all the flights, that all the drug planes that landed in Belize, the super majority originated in Venezuela?"
Chester Williams, Former Compol
"Yes, certainly. That was the case. Whenever I would, I would have given interviews in respect to, our monitoring of these tracks and even the landings. You would have always heard me say that the track originated from Venezuela."
"I am happy to see that under my tenure as commissioner of police, we we intercepted the most planes."
We note that in the US attack on Venezuela, 32 Cuban soldiers - who formed Maduro's security team - were killed by US forces. They comprise almost half of the eighty who lost their lives in that military action.
