And while 7 people were shot - the sole target was Romel Middleton. Police say he was targeted as part of a turf war over drugs.
He's in the KHMH in stable condition after being shot through the chest and to the hand - which was shattered.
He spoke to 7News exclusively via phone from his hospital bed.

"I was the target. I was talking to the guy who died, Keith Logan. It was him and I talking in front of the shop. I didn't pay anyone any mind, because I haven't done anything to anyone. So when I lift up my head I saw this man just point a gun at me and shoot me in my chest first. I put my hand and I ran inside the shop and the man fired like 10 shots at me. The people in shop got hit."
"I ran through the shop and jumped the fence and there were still shots being fired."

"Is there any point at which you thought that you would die?"

"Yes. I jumped about 2-3 fences and I feel my body getting cold, because I had lost a lot of blood. I got numb and my face was feeling numb and I felt like I would die."

"So who did this and why did they do it?"

"I don't know who did it, because I didn't see the man. I didn't get a chance to watch him, because he had on a helmet. So I want to know if someone sent a hit, because the way the guy came is like someone was paying him to do this job. How would you stop when about 20 persons were at the establishment having their fun because it was coming on to new year's and you fired 18 shots because you want to collect. To me that was a hit."

"Well definately, I feel like my life is in threat, yes. Because they came direct to me, so I know that I was the intended target."

"Nobody stone empty mango tree. They must have a reason to target you. Are you involve in the drug trade then?"

"Drug trade? what you mean involve in the drug trade?"

"Are you a Dur, do you sell weed, do you have turf? Is that why somebody is fighting with you to try and get your turf?"

"I do my little hustle and thing, but I don't know if they want the turf. I don't know the reason and why they shot me."

"So even do FAFA was killed on Christmas morning, at that time were you feeling like you have to watch how you move because somebody might send something after me now?"

"Like what I said, they kill 3 men. The first man who died was my friend. The second man who died was my friend dad. They came to buy from us. He didn't have any problem with us, so why should we want to kill papa or anybody want to kill papa? I don't feel no way, because I didn't do anyone anything."
"The reason why they shot me, it's just like what you say 'nobody stone empty mango tree.' But if I don't know the reason then what can I say? I can't say nothing because I don't know. I am lost myself."
Middleton made very specific allegations that he has been threatened directly by village police who he claims told him that "he's next."
There have been two previous drug related murders in the past two months in Bella Vista village.
