Belizean musical artist, 31 year old Anfernee "Big Bang" Pollard was shot and killed in Las Vegas, Nevada yesterday during a domestic dispute at his home.
Pollard and his partner were allegedly targeted by her ex. According to US news reports, the police were alerted by a 10 year old child in the home.
We spoke with his brother, city councillor Allan Pollard who spoke about Bang's influence everywhere he went:
Voice of: Allan Pollard, Brother of the Deceased
"Well, Big Bang was, you know, was always the type of person who was always smooth, easygoing, cool, you know, no lot of drama, no lot of antics, just, you know, cool, calm and collective like my dad would say, you know."
Reporter:
"And so what do you guys understand transpired in the U.S.?
Voice of: Allan Pollard, Brother of the Deceased
"Well, from what we gathered, it was a domestic dispute as it was labeled by the, um, the media host from the States now. Um, I haven't had much information other than what has been reported, but apparently he was, um, at a home with a young lady and some ex or somebody who was very upset came in and murdered the two of them."
Reporter:
"And so can you talk to us about the impact that he had on the lives of those that he surrounded himself with?"
Voice of: Allan Pollard, Brother of the Deceased
"You know, um, Bang was always influential, you know, whatever, whatever he did. Music-wise, I think the era when, um, Bang came up with his first big hit was when the music landscape was just really changing. We're just like, um, the, the quality of videos were, you know, you saw the level went up a bit. You hear like the, the quality of the music, the quality of production went up a bit, you know? Um, so he was very instrumental in that, you know, having, I remember he was one of the, one of the few you would see having like, um, video release parties and, you know, these big launches and, you know, cause that, that was Bang. He had to, he had to, you know, make his presence known, have to do everything he do, he have to do it correct. So, you know, that was, that was him."
Bang will be laid to rest in Belize but funeral arrangements are still being sorted out.
