And in other Home Affairs news, special advisor Aaron Guzman's $70,000 contract as special advisor ends in March. The previous minister had indicated he was not inclined to renew it. But now, there's a new Minister in charge and Oscar Mira says he has not advised for it to be renewed:
Reporter
"The special advisor to the ministry, Aaron Guzman, will his contract be renewed?"
Oscar Mira, Minister of Home Affairs
"The contract for Mr. Guzman, at this point in time, contract is not was not done by me. That is done by the office of the Prime Minister. I have not advised them to renew the contract. So it will be left up to the office of Prime Minister to renew or not to renew."
Reporter
"So even if you don't advise, they can still go forward with it."

Oscar Mira, Minister of Home Affairs
"Well, I don't sign the contract. So, of course I know it's their prerogative. If they can ask for my advice, I can give them my advice. Okay."
Reporter
"And so we know the forestry department recently stopped an illegal logging operation that was happening on his farm, including confiscating a sawmill."
"Can you speak on that or comment on that?"
Oscar Mira, Minister of Home Affairs
"I don't know the details on. I, I think it would be it wouldn't be right for me to comment on something that I don't know. It had nothing to do with the police department. That was forestry operation. And I think the best person was the forest department."
Reporter
"And were you aware of it, though?"
Oscar Mira, Minister of Home Affairs
"I was aware of it through a report that I saw, yes, it was, on the news, as well as on the, but it wasn't a police led operation."
Reporter
"And did you ever confront him about it by chance?"
Oscar Mira, Minister of Home Affairs
"No, I haven't confronted him."
We'll keep following the story.
