26 year old Michael Gladden is back behind bars awaiting his sentence after he was found guilty for the attempted murder of 33 year old Karen Pinto.
Pinto was targeted back in December 2020 and was forced to seek asylum in the US. She appeared via video link and testified against Gladden. She explained that she was chased by two men around 6:30 at night when she went to a store with her ex common law husband. It was while they were leaving the store that they were then followed by the gunmen. They fired several shots at her and her ex common law husband, causing both of them to run. She fell into a swamp and as the gunmen stood over her, she was hit and decided to "play dead" to trick her attackers.
Sentencing for Gladden is set for May 8th. The court is expected to hear a mitigation plea on his behalf.
