
Convicted double murderer Brian Castillo has been sentenced to two life terms in prison after being found guilty of the 2021 killings of Jennifer Archila and her 12-year-old daughter, Nitzia Catzim. The sentence was handed down today in the Belmopan High Court. The court ordered that the two life sentences take effect from November 24, 2021, the date Castillo was formally remanded. He will be eligible for parole after serving 33 years. Castillo was convicted for the November 21, 2021 double murder in San Ignacio Town, where it was established that both victims were fatally stabbed inside their home. Evidence presented during the trial revealed that both Archila and her daughter suffered multiple stab wounds, including fatal injuries to the neck. Following the incident, Castillo fled Belize but was later captured in Guatemala and returned.
