It's been two days since Alcalde Marcus Canti was found on the outskirts of Indian Creek. He reported to police that he had been abducted by 2 men who took him into the bushes and tied him up. The village's spokesperson, Cristina Coc, explained that they would be issuing a statement and today a joint release came out from the Maya Leaders Association, the Toledo Alcaldes Association, and the Julian Cho Society.

In that statement they do not address the abduction directly, but only says this is, quote, "a serious matter" and that they have requested that the authorities, quote, "undertake a comprehensive investigation into this matter." They are also appealing to the public to refer to police statements for updates.

The release then states, quote, "We continue to advocate for the government to swiftly establish a system for resolving third-party claims and land disputes involving conflicting interests over property." End quote.

According to police yesterday, Canti had "small bruises." After he was found, and he was taken to a medical center for treatment.
