And to contain further retaliation, police have also enhanced their patrols and operations in the Martins area following the murder of Samuels. OC Reymundo Reyes says that they have been preparing for any forms of retaliation since the targeted shooting of Baptist that occurred on Tuesday.

"At the present moment since the incident happened from last night we engaged our operational teams within the area with an effort to prevent incidents from happening due to that. We knew form the beginning when we had the incident of Mr Baptist on the Phillip Goldson Highway, that retaliation was possible. From then, we activated operations within that area. So that is what we are continuing to target known persons that might cause havoc within the area of Martins."
