Earlier in the news you heard from the police minister. He and the ComPol were both present at the police awards ceremony, which we will tell you more about later. But while Mira spoke to us for about ten minutes, ComPol Rosado limited us to exactly two questions, even in the throes of a crime wave. We asked him about the recent spike in murders and whether he believes the recently ended SOE was ineffective.

Dr Richard Rosado, Commissioner of Police

"First of all, I want to say that the main objective of the SOE is to ensure that the investigators can conduct the investigation without any impediment. And that was accomplished because we had four arrests from others during that time."

"Now, the safety and security of our country is our number one or our highest priority, and we will not allow any criminal elements to dictate the security environment of our country. Hence, the reason we have deployed all resources to ensure that we identify, apprehend, and prosecute those individuals involved."

Reporter
"Considering that one of the murders happened during the rush, the Saturday rush on Big Albert Street, do you feel like criminals are not afraid of interdiction?"

Dr Richard Rosado, Commissioner of Police
"Without disclosing our operational strategies, I want to assure the public that we are applying our legal tools, proven strategies, and coordinating with our strategic partner to address the challenges that face us."

"I also want to assure the public that the investigators have a wide range of cameras networked that are available to them. Facial recognition, license plate readers. We have the advanced analytics that investigators can now track and identify vehicles and individuals from the time an incident occurred."

"So it's just a matter of time before we have arrests."
