So it's not Russel Simmons' Def Comedy Jam but once you are willing to get yourself out of the house "de professa: a comedy" promises to give you a night of local belly bursting laughter with an even better twist. Master storyteller, John Alexander Watler is in town as the special guest for the first night of comedy happy hour. Watler stopped in to our studio's today to tell us more about the tragedy of "one foot" and what the comedy night will be all about:

What have you been doing and what can the Belizean public expect from you next?
Curtis Gillet
What I have engaged myself in is solo productions meaning that I am producing now but I am producing for me. And one of the first productions that I am doing under under Curtis gillet Productions is "da Professor Comedy" and that will be a night of story-telling and some stand-up comedy. This is the first in a series of many. I am also looking to bring out a stage play, a two hour full length play but for now most of the attention is geared towards comedy evenings, comedy nights and we are hoping to take this same show down to Punta Gorda very soon.
John Alexander Watler
Well he's a very fragile character in there you know because of his background, having been deserted by his mother, never knowing his father, so, mek we say one-foot is a tragic hero. When they come out to see me they can expect extreme laughter, you know, yeah, bring a good belt and tie up your belly bottom because... it's a belly splitter.
This is the first show in a series of comedy nights. "De Professa: a comedy" night sponsored by bel will take place on Friday August 2nd at the Caribbean Paradise restaurant and bar in Belmopan.
