There is Miss Excelsior, Miss ACC, and even Mr. Nice Guy along with countless other teen queen pageants, most of which have covered on 7NEWS.
But just when you thought there couldn't possibly be another pageant that hasn't been done, meet the contestants vying for Mr. and miss SJC, which will be held tomorrow. Yes, it is a pageant featuring three male and four female contestants from Saint John's junior college.
They were rehearsing at the Bliss Center today and contestants Maria Waight and Michael Wright told us why it will be worth your while.
Maria Waight, Miss SJC Contestant
"Well first of all you can always go and bash up at Elephant Man afterwards because our pageant is at 7pm so we will over by 10pm. The other thing is that we have a wide variety of talent. We have singing, dancing, rapping, we have ballet, we have poetry and we beautiful girls and beautiful men so I think you all should really come out."
Michael Wright, Mr. SJC Contestant
"You should come out because it is going to be hyped. We got the rehearsals and we are doing some crazy performances so you have to come and check it out. And also you don't know what you are going to be missing. You will be able to hear my new single, my first rap single coming out tomorrow night at the pageant."
Dijon Tucker, Pageant Organizer
"You all can expect a lot of fun because it is going to be fun filled. The main purpose of the pageant is to bring awareness to the issues that are affecting young people. But we are going to have talented young people going up for the pageant and it is also going to feature eloquence and intelligence."
The pageant begins at 7 tomorrow night at the Bliss Center. Tickets are $12 and $8. Pageant organizers tell us it is not for fundraising because they are already in the red with costs so it is more for the fun than financial.
