And while that pair trains their lyrical lasers on the police department, they stress that the song is about the few bad cops, and not the many good cops who are out there everyday. Depending on who you listen to, ASP Edward Broaster would fall on either of the far ends of that spectrum: those who like him, swear for him, and those who don't have written him off as an incorrigible ruffneck.

But now, confined to a desk job at headquarters in Belmopan, the one time bad man of the city streets is trying to again, re-invent himself as a poet. And while you may quibble about the quality of his verse, we'll admit he has one important pre-requisite for anyone wrestling with the poetic muse: he's completely fearless. Don't believe? Well check the rhyme he dropped for high schoolers in this graduate's season.

It comes down to the hearts and minds of those with the will to endure countless hours, burning the midnight kilowatts. For some it is unnecessary they just simply have the gift of being an intellectual.

Good evening! This is the time of year when so many students will be looking for a career, or simply a job. Shipping out of school and so many others shipping in, while some will be advancing to further their education. There will be many parties and many celebrations throughout the country. Many of you will be getting a degree or some other qualifications while others may try again. But for those who will be graduating this year we have some words of encouragement and advice where ever you are in this country of abroad, or ours. With that here is yours truly presenting a poem entitled "a degree."

A Degree

Now you have been educated to a high degree
You need to uplift your country Belize
With this I know you will certainly agree
For it is an important step you have achieved.

We have lost a lot of great professionals
Who; decided to make it otherwise international
I know you have not forgotten your roots
Someone will measure up, to step in your boots

That which you have toiled for so hard
Come neigh, is the day you will get your reward
Not to mention many congratulatory cards
As well that big party in the back yard

With all your friends and family around
When your name is loudly announced
Filled with glee and great joy abound
There, no regrets, no! Not even an ounce

Finally when you're at home all alone
Perhaps shouting to a friend on the telephone
"I did it, I made it, I am on top, and oh so proud"
I say to you do not stop, reach above the clouds.

Broaster is now working on his second book of poems.
